Dealmaker Spotlight: Adhrucia Apana, Managing Director of Creative Wealth Media

Adhrucia Apana is Managing Director of Creative Wealth Media (CWM), the prolific film and television financing company that has executive produced over 50 movies, while raising and deploying in excess of $650 million for a portfolio of critical hits, commercial blockbusters and cult favorites.

The company, through its joint venture label BRON Creative, recently closed a multi-picture, $100 million co-financing deal with MGM for titles including the upcoming THE ADDAMS FAMILY and LEGALLY BLONDE 3. The deal also includes MGM's CANDYMAN, RESPECT, THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, ROBOCOP RETURNS, and Orion Pictures' CHILD'S PLAY, BAD TRIP and GRETEL AND HANSEL. This is their second co-financing deal of the year having previously announced a slate with Warner Bros. Pictures for Warner Bros. Pictures’ including THE MULE, JOKER, and TORRANCE (working title), and New Line Cinema’s ISN’T IT ROMANTIC, THE KITCHEN, and SUPERINTELLIGENCE.

Additional CWM films include Angelina Jolie’s next movie THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD, written and directed by Tyler Sheridan; the highly anticipated Roger Ailes movie starring Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and Charlize Theron; THE GOOD NURSE starring Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne; HARRY HAFT, directed by Barry Levinson and starring Ben Foster; Sony’s THE FRONT RUNNER, starring Hugh Jackman and directed by Jason Reitman; Tom Hank’s WWII film GREYHOUND; ISN’T IT ROMANTIC starring Rebel Wilson; Paul Feig’s A SIMPLE FAVOR starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively; RED SEA DIVING RESORT starring Chris Evan; and THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon.

Adhrucia serves as an Executive Producer on several of the films on CWM current slate including FONZO about notorious gangster Al Capone starring Tom Hardy directed by Josh Trank, and John Ridley’s NEEDLE IN A TIMESTACK starring Orlando Bloom, Frieda Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr. She was honored for a commitment to being a voice for women and minorities in the industry at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival ChefDance hosted by Creative Playground Agency as one of 49 remarkable women and trailblazers in entertainment alongside powerhouse Gloria Allred and founder of the "Me Too" movement Tarana Burke.

Past films from CWM have included the acclaimed Denzel Washington led films FENCES and ROMAN J. ISRAEL; TULLY starring Charlize Theron; BIRTH OF A NATION; and ASSASSINATION NATION.

Prior to joining Creative Wealth Media, Adhrucia worked as an Executive at TheFilmHouse NY and Atlantic Screen Productions (now Empyre Media) and Hammerstone Studios (Oriah Entertainment). She transitioned into film after a 10-year career in strategy where she served as an Executive at PartnersHub well known for their influencer marketing campaigns for movies/TV such as the cult horror hit THE GRUDGE starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Mark Burnett’s THE BIBLE SERIES. Additionally, Adhrucia spearheaded a television and branding partnership with music icon Randy Jackson.

As a strategist, Adhrucia ran consulting at Batterii Creative (Addidas, P&G) and worked for ITCube and telecom and media giant UTV Asia. This after starting her career at Saatchi and Saatchi in strategy and business development for major brands such as General Mills, Tylenol, Olay, and Reynolds. Adhrucia is a founding partner of The Human Gathering Thought Conference that brings together thought leaders to speak about their efforts to change our world. She also serves as a spokesperson for “C.R.Y. (Child Relief and You) International, and as a Chair of the famed Desert Smash Celebrity Charity Tennis Tournament for St. Jude’s. She is a cum laude graduate of the Carl H Lindner Honors-PLUS Scholarship Program.

As a proud first generation American of East Indian descent, Adhrucia is a board member of The Athena Fund, started by Selma Hayek that champions both the female voice and a platform of diversity, and has been a featured speaker at prestigious industry events such as Sundance, Toronto International Film Festival, Relativity School’s Hidden Numbers Program, La Femme Film Festival and Winston Baker’s Conference Series.

Adhrucia is a supporter and advocate of the Learning Disabilities Association of America and has been a volunteer for The Young Storyteller’s Organization of LA promoting storytelling and the arts in public schools.

Having grown up in Cincinnati, she was the founder of the Cincinnati Chapter of 85 broads, member of the Cincinnati Symphony YPO board, FUEL board for funding non-profits in the area, and an avid supporter of the Cincinnati Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
